Ken was delighted to join Community Transport East Renfrewshire on Friday 7 June to say a special thank you to all their volunteers for all their hard work throughout the year.
As part of Volunteers’ Week, Community Transport East Renfrewshire, also known locally as “your wee red bus”, held a special afternoon tea event to say thank you to the volunteers that help keep the “wee red bus” service going.
Community Transport East Renfrewshire relies on its volunteers, including Project Manager Anne Marie Kennedy, to help transport members of the community to and from medical appointments. In addition to transporting patients to GP appointments, hospitals and clinics across the greater Glasgow area, the volunteers also help organise afternoon teas and assisted shopping days for those who are disadvantaged due to age, ill health, disability or financial hardship.
A long-time supporter of Community Transport East Renfrewshire, Ken was more than happy to don an apron and let the volunteers enjoy a well-deserved rest as he assisted in serving the tea and cakes.
Ken said: “It is great to help mark Volunteers’ Week by showing my appreciation to all those who give their time freely to support Community Transport East Renfrewshire throughout the year.
Whether it is providing a lift to the GP surgery or helping hand with the shopping, Anne Marie and her excellent team of volunteers ensure a friendly face to get you from A to B. It is no wonder they continue to be a much-loved and highly-valued service across East Renfrewshire.”
Community Transport East Renfrewshire Project Manager, Anne Marie Kennedy added: “Our volunteers are the lifeblood of ‘Your Wee Red Bus’, and it is wonderful to see how much they benefit from being involved, as well as the obvious difference it makes to the people we support.
I am delighted Ken could join us this afternoon in saying thank you for the incredible contribution our volunteers make to Community Transport East Renfrewshire. Afternoon Tea may seem like a small gesture but I just want them to know how much we all appreciate them giving up their time to help.”
